Shooting for the Stars
It was freshman year of college, and I had written my first stage-play for theater class that I decided to share with my English professor. A few days later, she returned it to me with eight words that would change my life, “This is good! You should really consider screenwriting.”
Three years later, I wrote my first screenplay and it advanced in the Sundance Screenwriters Lab. A year after that, I drove cross-country to Los Angeles to pursue a career in screenwriting. Today, I’ve written countless screenplays, several award-winning short films, and an upcoming documentary.
The Shorter Route
After growing restless from writing films and waiting on them to get made, I picked up a camera and began directing shorter versions of the feature films I was writing.
Since then, several of my short films have played in film festivals from all over the world and have taken home trophies. Currently, all of my short films are streaming online and can be found at Rayven Choi Films.
A Capitvated Audience
Although working in Hollywood often feels like the real-life version of “The Wizard of Oz,” it’s always a fulfilling experience when your work touches its intended audience.
